<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately evaluate the catalytic activity of a multicomponent type cluster, which is composed of a plurality of kinds of metal atoms, in a short time. <P>SOLUTION: A plurality of kinds of clusters are produced by evaporating a plurality of specific elements, the mass spectra of them are measured to be set as a base spectrum, a mass spectrum after a gas to be adsorbed is brought into contact with a plurality of kinds of the clusters is measured to obtain a measuring spectrum, the ratio of the peak area intensity of the measuring spectrum to the peak area intensity of the base spectrum is calculated with respect to respective peaks to evaluate that the catalytic activity of the specific cluster corresponding to the peak wherein the ratio is a predetermined value or above is high. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
