PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glass plate with an ultraviolet shielding film having high ultraviolet shielding ability and excellent in mechanical durability, chemical resistance and light resistance, and a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The glass plate with the ultraviolet shielding film includes a glass substrate and the ultraviolet shielding film disposed on at least one surface of the glass substrate, wherein the ultraviolet shielding film comprises a silicon oxide-based matrix containing two or more ultraviolet shielding materials different in maximum absorption wavelength for light. The method for producing the glass substrate with the ultraviolet shielding film includes: applying, on one surface of a glass substrate, a composition comprising a silicon compound which can be converted to silicon oxide gel upon a hydrolytic condensation reaction, two or more ultraviolet shielding materials different in maximum absorption wavelength for light, water, an organic solvent and an acid to form a coating film of the composition; and removing the organic solvent from the coating film and simultaneously forming a silicon oxide-based matrix from the silicon compound to form an ultraviolet shielding film.
