摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the number of input ports required for a CPU as a resist correcting means when detecting the timing of the passage of a plurality of patch toner images of different colors transferred to an intermediate transfer body through a prescribed position (patch passage) in order to perform resist correcting processing in a tandem system image forming apparatus. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a specular reflected light detecting means for detecting the intensity of specular refection light emitted to the patch passage; a scattered light detecting means for detecting the intensity of scattered reflected light emitted to the patch passage; a signal synthesizing circuit for synthesizing a signal from the specular reflected light detecting means and a signal from the scattered light detecting means into one signal and then inputting the synthesized signal into the resist correcting means. The resist correcting means corrects the displacement of the transfer position of a toner image of each color to the intermediate transfer body on the basis of the input synthesized signal.
