PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular control device making adequate vehicle control suited for the characteristic of a detected obstacle. SOLUTION: A control unit 4 changes a target stopping distance based on the information that an obstacle is a moving object or a stopped object, and that the obstacle is a vehicle or a wall, or a person or a small vehicle. In other words, the control unit 4 increases the distance from the obstacle at the time when generating the braking force by increasing the target stopping distance D when the obstacle is a person or a small vehicle (neither a vehicle nor a wall) in comparison with the case where the obstacle is a vehicle or a wall (in other words, the control unit expedites the generation timing of the braking force).
