PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress damage applied to brain tissue and to focus light from the brain tissue maximally even when especially the brain tissue is observed. SOLUTION: In an objective lens 1, a top end transparent member 3 brought into contact with an observed object A is gradually tapered as it goes to the top end surface 3a. A diameter dimension d of the top end surface 3a is defined by an expression: 0 mm≤d-FOV-2*WD*(NA/N)≤0.3 mm and the maximum diameter dimension D is≤3 mm, wherein FOV is an observation field of view range, WD is a working distance, NA is a numerical aperture, and N is the refractive index of the observed object A.
