PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem such that in a DTV data processing process, when there is a defective packet lacking in data, a header cannot be read with respect to the following packet, and so the packet is discarded with a normal packet included. SOLUTION: A data string in a PES format included in received TS format data is recognized in a transport decoder (TD) by detecting a PES header from a TS header and TS data. In a PES mode, the TD delivers information indicating a data string location where the PES header which is detected in PES data exists to an AV decoder (AVD) along with the PES header. In an ES mode, the detected PES header is removed, the received TS data is converted into an ES format, and data converted into the ES format is delivered to the AVD through the use of the TD.
