<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To rationalize a manufacturing process while securing heat resistance, water repellence and excellent sound absorbing characteristics regarding a sound absorbing material for a working machine and a method for manufacturing the same. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Resorcinol resin comprising a sulfomethylated compound of a condensation polymer of a univalent phenolformaldehyde polymer having a methylol group and a 1,3-dihydroxybenzene formaldehyde polymer having an alkyl group is impregnated in or applied to a nonwoven fabric, and this nonwoven fabric is heat-molded, cured and fixed to prepare a resin cured skin material 7.
