<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic key system capable of reducing the number of parts used and the number of wires used, improving security and convenience properties, and being mounted in a vehicle interior later after purchase of a vehicle. <P>SOLUTION: This electronic key system is provided with an electronic key K capable of receiving a request signal and transmitting an answer signal for the request signal, a sensor part 2 having a proximity sensor provided in the vehicle 1 and capable of detecting the electronic key K or a human body H by the proximity sensor, a transmission part 3 provided in the vehicle 1 to transmit the request signal through a transmission antenna 3a, a receiving part 4 provided in the vehicle 1 to receive the answer signal, a door lock part 5 for locking or unlocking a door, and a control part C for controlling the sensor part 2, the transmission part 3, the receiving part 4, and the door lock part 5.
