PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply process bills left behind. SOLUTION: This automated teller machine 10 includes: a depositing and dispensing part 110 for receiving/paying bills from/to a user; a collecting part 142 for collecting bills left behind from the depositing and dispensing part 110; conveyance mechanisms 162, 164 and 166 for conveying bills on a bill conveyance path 160 between the depositing and dispensing part 110 and the collecting part 142; and a control part 170 for controlling the conveyance mechanisms 162, 164 and 166 so as to prevent the next bills from being received from the depositing and dispensing part 110 before bills received from the depositing and dispensing part 110 is collected by the collecting part 142 during conveying the bills left behind to the collecting part 142.
