<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an agitator which is used in water treatment facilities, has light weight and maintenance of which is easy. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A carbon fiber-containing glass fiber reinforced plastic which contains carbon fiber by at least 5 to 20% among 30 to 60% fiber volume ratio is used as a main shaft 10 of the agitator 1 used in the water treatment facilities, an arm 20 connected with the main shaft 10 and an agitation blade 30 connected with the arm 20. Further at a joint 11 between the main shaft 10 and the arm 20, a reinforcing material 12 is provided inside the main shaft 10 and a cross-section of the agitation blade 30 is made to be U-shaped.
