<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an axial gap type motor having high motor drive efficiency when a stator is formed of a plurality of split cores and the split cores are each formed of a laminate of a plurality of metal plates. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The axial gap type motor 100 includes a stator 20 opposing a rotor 10 with a space in a direction of a rotating axis AX. The stator 20 is formed of a plurality of split cores 21, and the split cores 21 are each formed of a plurality of laminated metal plates 21a. A first end edge portion 21sa of a first metal plate 21s constituting a first split core 21S contacts somewhere on a side surface portion 21td of a second metal plate 21t constituting a second split core 21T adjacent to the first split core 21S.
