<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus that suitably performs an adjustment operation for a fixing device and so on, which are used for image formation using recording sheets of different sizes successively and keeps image quality and suppresses reduction of productivity. <P>SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus specifies the size of a recording material on which an image is formed. Using the specified size of the recording material and the size of the recording material used for the previous image formation, the image forming apparatus determines whether an adjustment processing for maintaining image quality is needed.
