PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a female optical connector improved in production efficiency. SOLUTION: The female optical connector (10), to which a male optical connector (1) with an optical cable (3) is attached or detached, includes: a photoelectric transducer (23) which is mounted on an electrically conductive metal lead frame (21); a lens (25) which is arranged on the front side of the photoelectric transducer (23) with the optical axis (K) aligned thereto; an optical transducer module (20) which has a resin housing (26) for protecting the photoelectric transducer (23); and a receptacle housing (11) in which an opening (11a) is opened to the front side for attaching/detaching the male optical connector (1) and in which the photoelectric transducer module (20) is embedded, in a manner that an electromagnetic shield cover (12) with a light passing hole (12e) from which the lens (25) is exposed is overlapped on the front of the resin housing (26) on the rear side in the opening (11a).
