<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a work position detection apparatus with a simple driving configuration. Ž<P>SOLUTION: Contact shoes 36A and 36B are moved in the direction getting into a hole H to be detected, which has been formed on the outer surface of a work W, in the non-detection state by a moving mechanism 25 including a motor 26. The contact shoes 36A and 36B are switched from the non-detection state to the detection state by a switching mechanism 40 including a switching rod 41, based on the moving power of a moving mechanism 25, at the position where the contact shoes 36A and 36B has got into the hole H to be detected, of the work W. When the contact shoes 36A and 36B are displaced to the position to touch the inner peripheral surface of the hole H to be detected in the detection state, detection rods 49A and 49B are actuated depending on the displacement, detection signal is output from detecting devices 58A and 58B, and thus the hole position of the work W is detected.
