<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biaxially oriented film solving such problems that a film is easily extended and wrinkles during such an operation where tensile strength is applied at high temperature as drying process done after coating of magnetic layer. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The biaxially oriented film (a) has at least one layer comprised of a polyester made from (i) an aromatic dicarboxylic acid component, that contains a ≥5 mol% and <50 mol% 6,6'-(alkylene dioxy)di-2-naphthoic acid component and a >50 mol% and ≤95 mol% aromatic dicarboxylic acid component other than the 6,6'-(alkylene dioxy)di-2-naphthoic acid component, and (ii) a diol component that contains a 90-100 mol% alkylene glycol component, and (b) has an endothermic peak of at least 0.5 J/g in the temperature range of 110-140°C in measurement using the differential scanning calorimeter (DSC).
