Novel amine salts of trans-dihydroxy-bishydroxycarbonylethylene, the amine being morpholine or piperazine, are produced by the reaction between trans-dihydroxy-bis-hydroxycarbonylethylene and morpholine or piperazine. Pharmaceutical compositions having antipyretic, analgesic, and anti-inflammatory activity and containing the compounds defined above, are administered orally, parenterally, or topically in association with a pharmaceutical carrier.
