<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long thin round workpiece grinding method capable of grinding a long thin round workpiece at large apparent rigidity of the workpiece W without using an anti-vibration device, and a working machine of the long thin round workpiece. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This grinding method for grinding a long thin round workpiece using a processing tool while rotating the workpiece around a workpiece rotary shaft in the longitudinal direction has a step for supporting both ends of a long thin round workpiece W, a step for further applying a nipping force in a direction for nipping the long thin round workpiece W from the both supported ends, and curving the supported long thin round workpiece W into a convex shape toward a processing tool T, and a step for rotating the long thin round workpiece W around a workpiece rotary shaft WZ along a curve while maintaining the curved condition, and grinding the workpiece while the rigidity of the long thin round workpiece W relative to the processing tool T is larger than the rigidity of the long thin round workpiece W supported linearly.
