<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a paper feeding device capable of preventing the double feeding of recording mediums with high precision, and to provide a recording device equipped with the paper feeding device. Ž<P>SOLUTION: This automatic paper feeding device 13 provided in a printer is provided with a paper guide 17, a paper feeding roller 23 having a circumferential face 25a, and a separation member 29 having an inclined face 29a and fixed and arranged. The circumferential face 25a is formed of an abutting face forming member 25 elastically deformed when receiving predetermined pressure. The circumferential face 25a is abutted on the uppermost paper P among pieces of the paper P put on the paper guide 17, and the paper feeding roller 23 feeds it in the direction for feeding paper P. The uppermost paper P which is fed by the paper feeding roller 23 and whose chip is collided with the inclined face 29a of the separation member 29 presses the circumferential face 25a, deforms the abutting face forming member 25 elastically, and is fed while forming a clearance allowing only one paper P to pass through between the circumferential face 25a and the separation member 29 against the elastic restoring force of the abutting face forming member 25.
