PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slide member capable of shortening the time required for initial abrasion. SOLUTION: The slide member is formed by cladding the surface of a substrate A with a diamond-like carbon film B having a nano-sized relief structure on the surface thereof. The slide member can lessen the contact area with a counterpart material when sliding because of the nano-sized relief structure, and thus the time required for initial abrasion can be shortened by the obtained high surface pressure and accelerated abrasion.
