PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inexpensively and efficiently producing chlorine by effectively utilizing a catalyst deteriorated in activity by a fixed bed reaction system.
SOLUTION: When hydrogen chloride is oxidized in a fixed bed reaction system in which a gas containing hydrogen chloride and a gas containing oxygen are flowed through at least two catalyst-filling layers, an oxidation reaction is started after arranging each catalyst-filling layer so that the initial activity of catalysts in two catalyst-filling layers continuously provided in the gas flow direction becomes same or the initial activity of the catalyst in the catalyst-filling layer located on the downstream side becomes higher and that the initial activity of the catalyst in the catalyst-filling layer located in the lowermost stream in the gas flow direction becomes higher than that of the catalyst in the catalyst-filling layer located in the uppermost stream, and after reacting for a predetermined time, a catalyst deteriorated in activity is reused as the catalyst in a different catalyst-filling layer located on the upstream side in the gas flow direction of the catalyst-filling layer in which the catalyst deteriorated in activity has been filled.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT
|
