<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a more excellent means for preventing melanogenesis, more concretely, to provide an excellent skin care preparation for external use for preventing melanogenesis that can replace a laser treatment, chemical peeling or the like. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The skin care preparation for external use comprises as its ingredient a combination of (1) a triterpene acid phosphate ester and/or a salt thereof and (2) a component selected from among glycyrrhetinic acid, an acid derivative thereof and/or a salt thereof.
