<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the size of an entire V-type internal combustion engine by reducing water jackets at respective ends in crankshaft directions of right and left banks of the V-type internal combustion engine. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The V-type internal combustion engine includes: a cylinder block cooling water inlet for supplying cooling water to a cylinder block of a first bank; a first water jacket connected to the cylinder block cooling water inlet and surrounding a cylinder row of the first bank in the U shape when viewed from above the first bank; a second water jacket surrounding a cylinder row of the second bank of the V-type internal combustion engine in the reverse-U shape when viewed from above the second bank; a first communication passage connecting a cooling water U-turn portion of the first bank and a cooling water inlet of the second bank; and a second communication passage connecting a cooling water outlet of the first bank and a cooling water U-turn portion of the second bank.
