摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To effectively suppress self-ignition in restarting without unnecessarily decreasing fuel consumption efficiency, in a start control device for an internal combustion engine having an automatic stop-start function. Ž<P>SOLUTION: A crank angle sensor 34 detects the stop position of a piston. A water temperature sensor 36 detects cooling water temperature THW. A rule for a limit injection quantity established among the piston stop position, cooling water temperature THW and the limit amount of fuel injected not causing the self-ignition combustion during restarting is stored. The detected value of the piston stop position and the detected value of the cooling water temperature THW are applied to the rule for the limit injection quantity, thereby calculating the limit amount of fuel injected.
