<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spinning reel capable of aiming at the small-sizing of a reel body. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The spinning reel for fishing includes: a spool 3; a rotor 2 for wind-guiding a fishing line to the spool 3 through a fishing line-guiding part; a switching mechanism 30 equipped with an operation member 31 capable of switch-operating a regulated state for regulating the rotation of the spool 3 and a free state for making the spool free; and a returning mechanism 50 for returning the switching mechanism in the free state of the spool to the regulated state by the winding-up operation of the handle 5. The switching mechanism 30 in the free state can be returned to the regulated state by engaging a kick plate 60 transferring by engaging with a returning part 51b of the returning gear 51 rotating jointly by the winding operation of the handle, with a cam part 31c of the operating member 41.
