<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video recording device capable of continuing recording in other media without interrupting recording even when an error occurs in a recording medium in the midst of recording. <P>SOLUTION: The video recording device is provided with a video encoding part 3 for encoding an input video signal into encoded data, a memory part 10 for temporarily storing the encoded data by a predetermined unit, a plurality of recording media 18 for recording the encoded data, and a recording medium control unit 14 for recording the encoded data stored in the memory part in a recording medium 18a of a recording target. The device is further provided with a recording medium checking part 11 for checking permission of recording in recording media 18b and 18c other than the recording medium of a current recording target among the plurality of recording media to set a recording medium 18b to be subjected to next recording for the plurality of recording media.
