<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a support member for a thermostat device capable of improving a temperature sensing characteristic of cooling water by a temperature sensing movable part in a valve housing. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The support members 16, 17 and 18 are incorporated into the valve housing 2 for making the cooling water of an internal combustion engine flow; have the temperature sensing movable part 12 moving by a temperature change in the cooling water; control the temperature of the cooling water introduced into the internal combustion engine by operating a valve element 13 for opening-closing to a valve seat 25 formed in the valve housing 2 in response to the movement of this temperature sensing movable part 12; and are used for supporting an energizing means for energizing the valve element 13 in the valve closing direction on the edge in the valve opening direction of an introducing port 22a of the thermostat device 1. The support members 16, 17 and 18 are support plates 16, 17 and 18 extended on a pedestal 25 of the valve housing 2, and the support plates 16, 17 and 18 are formed as a single body.
