<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lens drive device and optical equipment, for reducing a retreat space of a member in a direction of lens drive, and thereby downsizing a lens barrel in storing, in the lens barrel in which a lens movement distance is long. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The lens drive device includes: drive means 12, 13, 14 for driving a lens holder 7 holding a lens L3 in an optical axis direction of the lens L3; weights 11b, 12 functioning as a counter balance of the lens holder 7; and an operation point 11b for attaching an action point 11c contacting the lens holder 7 and the weights 11b, 12. The lens drive device connects the lens holder 7 and the weights 11b, 12, fits a support point shaft 11a of a lever 11 into a 3-group cam groove 5d and a 3-group advance groove 6b of a cam cylinder 5, and rotatably and retractably supports the lever 11 along the 3-group advance groove 6b in the optical axis direction by centering the support point shaft 11a.
