<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device which has luminance easily corrected and is superior in visibility, wherein the luminance can be collectively controlled per frame in accordance with an image to be displayed, and to provide a method of driving the image display device. <P>SOLUTION: The image display device includes: a power supply which supplies a power based on an image of a frame unit to respective pixel circuits to cause light emitting elements of the pixel circuits to emit light simultaneously; a current detection part which detects a current value based on an applied voltage from the power supply; an emission period deriving part which derives a supply time which equalizes the supply amount of power to each pixel circuit to a prescribed value, as a calculated emission period on the basis of the detected current value; and a timing control part which simultaneously extinguishes light emitting elements of the pixel circuits at a timing when an emission duration after the start of emission has exceeded the calculated emission period. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
