<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a control method capable of performing bloodshot eye mitigating processing when a figure is included in an object with a comparatively high possibility, even if a figure imaging scene is not distinguished. <P>SOLUTION: If a face image is included in an object image obtained by capturing an image of an object, it is decided that it is a figure imaging scene. If an object distance is short, it is decided that it is a macro imaging scene. If an object intensity is high, it is decided that it is a scenery imaging scene. If the object intensity is low, it is decided that it is a night view imaging scene. When the figure imaging scene is distinguished or when scene distinction can not be done (YES at step 83), it is assumed that a figure is included in the object, and pre-light-emission is performed for bloodshot eye prevention (step 84).
