<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an IR cutoff filter which reduces the dependency of light transmissivity on the light incidence angle and achieves its low profile and cost reduction. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The IR cutoff filter has a transparent substrate 2, and a multilayer 3 made on this transparent substrate 2 by stacking a number of thin dielectric films 5 and thin silver films 6.
