An information processing method and an electronic money system enabling contribution to realizing global or social purposes such as protection of the earth environment by utilizing the characteristics of electronic money which is money expressed by electronic data, points, or the right of use. When an electronic money card (10) is presented to an electronic money interface (27), a controller (24) detects the usage, time, and place through a usage used state detecting section (31). If the usage fits the purpose of protection of the earth environment or social contribution, for example, if the usage is purchase of a commodity or use of a service both of which involve resource saving or energy saving satisfying predetermined conditions, the controller (24) carries out a processing of increasing the value of the electronic money. The increase of the value includes discount, an increase of the balance, addition of points, or expansion of the usable range of the right of use.
