A system comprising: a pair of loudspeaker elements coupled via at least a cable portion; and a headband formed by an annular tube of longitudinally and transversely stretchable cloth or fabric configured for circumscribing a head of a user, the headband being formed using stitching and comprising an opening enabling insertion of at least the loudspeaker elements through the opening into the tube, the headband further being sized and shaped such that the size, shape and at least a portion of the stitching are operative, in combination with the transverse elasticity of the cloth or fabric, to retain the loudspeaker elements at locations substantially adjacent to the respective ears of the user when the headband is positioned on the head. Wireless versions of headband headphones implement a radio frequency receiver or a built in audio device.
