PNEUMATIC OBJECT PROVIDED WITH A GAS-IMPERMEABLE LAYER BASED ON A THERMOPLASTIC ELASTOMER AND A PLATY FILLER

Pneumatic object (1) provided with a layer that is impermeable to the inflation gases (10), with improved hysteresis and improved impermeability; said layer (10) comprises an elastomer composition, comprising as a minimum, by way of its sole elastomer or majority elastomer by weight, a thermoplastic styrene elastomer (TPS) and a platy filler at a volume percentage of more than 5%. In a preferred embodiment the TPS elastomer is a polystyrene and polyisobutylene block copolymer such as SIBS (styrene/isobutylene/styrene) and the composition also contains an elastomer extender oil, particularly a PIB (polyisobutylene) oil. The platy filler is chosen in particular from graphites and phyllosilicates such as micas, clays or talcs. The pneumatic object (1) of the invention is particularly an inner tube or pneumatic tyre for a motor vehicle.
