Disclosed is a bonding ribbon which enables uniform bonding over the entire area of the bonding surface every time even after tens of thousands of bonding, thereby achieving more stable bonding strength. Specifically disclosed is an aluminum ribbon for ultrasonic bonding, which is composed of an aluminum alloy having a purity of not less than 99% by mass and consisting of additional elements and the balance of aluminum. The ribbon has an extremely thin tape structure which is obtained by rolling after multistage wire drawing. The average crystal grain size in a cross section of the ribbon is 5-200 µm, and the thickness of the ribbon relative to the width thereof is from 1/2 to 1/20. It is preferable that the aspect ratio (width direction/thickness direction) of the crystal grains is 0.5-10, and the ribbon has been subjected to a mirror finish so as to have a surface roughness of Rz = 2 µm. |
