The vehicle has an integrated operating device that comprises an actuating element (12). A control device i.e. microprocessor (16), is coupled with a physical interface (18) and designed to output a control signal at the physical interface during actuation of actuating element. The control signal depends on both the actuated actuating element and a code or code table, where the control device is designed for use of different codes or code tables. An element of a plug connection and a transmitter for transmitting signals are provided in the physical interface. An independent claim is also included for a method for retrofitting a motor vehicle.
