The holding device holds the blank parts in a correct position for sewing, such that edge regions of the blank parts to be sewn are sewable together by the sewing head for producing a formed part. The holding device is movable to a receiving station (I) for fixing the blank parts in the holding device and is movable to a sewing station (II) for sewing the blank parts.
