It is intended to provide a chlorine-free sulfurized olefin which has suitable viscosity and solubility in a base oil, a high sulfur content, good load withstanding property and oxidation stability when it is used as an extreme pressure additive, and is excellent in low corrosiveness to non-ferrous metals, a chlorine-free sulfurized olefin which has good load withstanding property and oxidation stability and is excellent in low corrosiveness to non-ferrous metals, and a method for producing the sulfurized olefin. The method for producing a sulfurized olefin (A) comprising reacting at least two types of dienes (a1), sulfur (a2), hydrogen sulfide (a3), and an amine (a4) with one another to obtain the sulfurized olefin (A), and the sulfurized olefin containing 1 to 3 sulfur atoms in average per monosulfide bond and polysulfide bond in a molecule, having a sulfur content of 40 to 55% by weight in the molecule and containing substantially no chlorine obtained by reacting a mixture of two or more types of dienes (a1), sulfur (a2), and hydrogen sulfide (a3) with one another.
