PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for detecting a position are provided to allow semiconductor modules to be inserted into an accurate position by detecting the each insertion position of a tray. CONSTITUTION: A jig(100) is fixed at a part of a tray where insert grooves(22) are arranged. The jig has a top side(110) which is a rectangular plane. A first location detection unit(200) is installed on the top side of the jig. A first location detection unit senses the corner of the top side of the jig and detects the position of the jig. A second position detection unit(300) is connected to a first position detection unit. A second position detection unit detects the position of the insertion hole of tray based on the location of the jig which a first position detection unit detects.
