<p>An ingot is purified, lubricated and has its surface imperfections reduced by introducing into the ingot mould, prior to pouring, a comp. comprising is not 70% naphthalene mixed with 1-30 wt.%. Gilsonite and teeming molten metal. The comp. when contacted with the mould reacts to form a dense, continuous, carbonaceous cloud which coats the outer surface of the ingot and the inner surface of the mould.</p> |
