PURPOSE: A cell-based robot cleaner and a cleaning method are provided to minimize cumulating of a cleaning area between cells. CONSTITUTION: A cell-based robot cleaner is composed of a detection unit, a control unit, and a driving unit. The detection unit detects the amount of turn generated when the robot cleaner travels over a cleaning area divided into multiple cells(11,12,13,14,15,16). The control unit allows the rotation direction to be changed based on the detected amount of turn. And the control unit controls the amount of turn so that cumulative error is minimized. The driving unit powers the robot cleaner according to a control order of the control unit.
