PURPOSE: A virtual optical input device and a method for controlling a light source using the same are provided to differently set a duty cycle of a light source which outputs a virtual input interface according to standby time, thereby minimizing power consumption. CONSTITUTION: A pattern generator(110) outputs a virtual input interface of a predetermined pattern. A controller(140) controls a pulse pattern of a light source outputting the virtual input interface to be changed. The pattern generator outputs the virtual input interface of the pattern by generated light.
