PURPOSE: A backlight assembly and a display apparatus with the same and a driving method thereof are provided to reduce waterfall noise, thereby improving display quality. CONSTITUTION: A pulse width modulation signal output unit(200) has duty ratio corresponding to an inputted dimming signal and outputs a pulse width modulation signal with non-constant period. A light source(400) emits light based on the pulse width modulation signal. The pulse width modulation signal output unit compares a random frequency signal with a dimming signal to output the pulse width modulation signal. A random frequency signal generating unit outputs the random frequency signal. A comparator compares voltage level of the dimming signal with the random frequency signal.
