OPTICAL POINTING DEVICE AND OPERATION METHOD

PURPOSE: An optical pointing device and an operating method thereof are provided to use arrangement of light emitting elements and light receiving elements, thereby performing cursor movement, button input and scroll operations in a small space. CONSTITUTION: A sensing unit comprises light emitting elements(12) and light receiving elements(13). A transparent cover(14) protects the light emitting elements and the light receiving elements. The transparent cover keeps a uniform distance between the elements and a subject(15). The light emitting devices and the light receiving elements are arrayed in sequence in the sensing unit. The location of the subject is recognized at a predetermined period. A cursor of a display unit moves as much as a moving distance of the recognized subject.
