<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress a shift to such an operation mode other than a normal operation mode as a misoperation not expected by a user while achieving a positive shift to an operation mode desired by the user. Ž<P>SOLUTION: The electronic device includes a display operation panel 11 provided with a plurality of switches 46-48, wherein a controller starts in a special operation mode different from the normal operation mode when a series of predetermined operations composed of a plurality of operation steps are performed on the display operation panel 11 at power-on and the series of operations are completed within a predetermined time, and starts in the normal operation mode when the series of operations are not completed within the predetermined time.
