<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a personal authentication technology which can accurately and quickly authenticate a person even if a facial expression changes. <P>SOLUTION: A personal authentication apparatus includes: an input means to input image data; a face detection means to detect a face region of a person included in the image data input by the input means, and to detect feature data from the detected face region; a facial expression determination means to determine a facial expression from the face region detected by the face detection means; a storage means to store feature data used to authenticate a person for each of a plurality of facial expressions of the face; a selection means to select feature data corresponding to the facial expression determined by the facial expression determination means from the storage means; and an authentication means to authenticate a person by comparing the feature data of the face region detected by the face detection means, and the feature data selected by the selection means. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
