<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an inverter capable of reducing the voltage applied to a switching element, while decreasing the recovery current. <P>SOLUTION: A lower-side switch section S2 has capacitors C1 and C2, diodes D10 and D11, MOS transistors Tr2 and Tr3 and a reflux diode D20. The capacitors C1 and C2 are mutually connected in series. The diodes D10 and D11 are respectively connected in series with the capacitors C1 and C2. The MOS transistors Tr2 is connected in parallel with a pair of capacitor C1 and diode D10. The MOS transistor Tr3 is connected in parallel with a pair of capacitor C2 and diode D11.
