OPTICAL SCANNER AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact optical scanner in which the workability for assembly is improved so as to prevent interference with other components. SOLUTION: The optical scanner includes: a receiving base having one or more light sources, a deflection means which deflects a light beam from the light source and performs a main scanning and a focusing means which focuses the light beam scanned with the deflection means onto an image carrier; and a case which includes a reflection means which guides the light beam onto the image carrier and houses the receiving base. The receiving base includes: a projected part which projects from the front face to outside of the outer periphery; and a handle part provided backward of the center of gravity for lifting the receiving base without touching other components. The case includes: a hole part which accepts the projected part on the front face; a mild tilt directed vertically downward on the back face; and a first guide means which guides the movement of the receiving base by its own weight along the back face of the receiving base to the vicinity of the mounting position of the receiving base.
