<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact optical scanner capable of increasing a degree of flexibility for the arrangement of optical components, and an image forming apparatus using it. <P>SOLUTION: The scanning device includes deflection means for deflecting/scanning light beams emitted from a plurality of light source means, and a plurality of imaging optical systems disposed corresponding to a plurality of the light beams. The plurality of the light beams deflected/scanned by the deflection means are focused on different photosensitive drums by the imaging optical systems. Each of the plurality of the imaging optical systems includes a light path bending mirror, and one of the imaging optical systems includes a transmissive imaging optical element. In a sub scanning cross section, the principal light of the beam that passes through the transmissive imaging optical element passes the opposite side of the light path of the light beam that has been deflected/scanned by the deflection means and travels to the light path bending mirror of another imaging optical system of the plurality of the imaging optical systems, with respect to a straight line connecting the surface vertex of the incidence surface of the transmissive imaging optical element and the surface vertex of the output surface thereof. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT</p> |
