PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discriminate coins held by a chute by use of detection sensors collectively arranged. SOLUTION: A coin discriminator 100 comprises: a first case 120, a second case 130 and a chute 110 sandwiched between the first case 120 and the second case 130 and having a U-shaped cross section. The chute 110 has inclined parts 114, 115 both sides of which narrow downward. A coin save member 131 is arranged in at least one of the inclined parts 114, 115. The coin save member 131 is operated by a motor to switch between a contact state in which a coin C contacts a contact surface 131A and a state in which the contact state is released. The kind of the coin C is determined by the detection sensors collectively arranged in the vicinity of the coin C which contacts a plate 116 and the contact surface 131A and is held.
