PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel property detector capable of precisely detecting the concentration of an aroma component concentration contained in gasoline. SOLUTION: The fuel passage in a fuel property sensor 1 is constituted of one measuring passage 22 and three bypass passages 23 both of which are parallel to each other and the light path length of ultraviolet rays in the measuring passage 22 is made shorter than the measuring passage of a conventional fuel property detector. By this constitution, the detection signal level of a phototransistor 4 when the concentration of the aroma component is low is made higher than before by reducing the absorbing degree of ultraviolet rays by the aroma component when advancing ultraviolet rays through the measuring passage 22 and the detection signal width of the light detecting element corresponding to the actually developable concentration range of the aroma component in gasoline can be magnified, thereby enabling the highly precise detection of the concentration of the aroma component.
